Hazel and I spent a few days with my parents this past week in Port Byron. We had a wonderful time and as always, enjoyed visiting, Grandma “moo ma” and “Boopa”, as Hazel has affectionately come to call my parents.

As I mentioned earlier we are spending quite a chunk of time in Salem this summer. Our last trip back was especially fun as all of the cousins and their wee ones were in town for Kacey and Micah’s baby shower. Although Hazel seemed pretty overwhelmed by all of the commotion, she warmed up eventually.

USA CHAMPIONSHIPS

This past week, Hazel, mom, dad and I flew to Oregon to support Dorian at the Track and Field USA Championships. We stayed with some wonderful friends whom Phillip and I met while touring with Missoula. They live in Falls City, OR. We had a wonderful time seeing the beautiful sights, catching up with the wonderful Dixon family, and of course watching Dorian make team USA!!!!

This weekend is the “Ridge Fest” as in, Chicago Ridge, where we reside, outside of Chicago. This is our first year attending the festival. Since Philip is on the fire department we got free passes to get in, woohoo. I have heard it should pick up as the weekend progresses, bands like STYX and Eddie Money are to play, but there wasn’t much happening tonight. We were able to accompany Phillip as he made “the rounds,” (He had to wear his uniform and walk around looking official). He was also giving tours of the fire truck, which neither Hazel nor I had ever been in before. I was definitely more excited than she was.
